Black screen when recording anything but games

There are numerous videos on youtube regarding this problem but none of them have a fix that works. They all say to go to the graphics settings and make a choice in the Power saving and High performance options.... but both of those are controlled by my graphics card ( Nvidia gtx1050 ti ) so the fix ends right there. Impossible to select the CPU instead of the graphics card. OBS used to work fine up until 3 days ago when I did the update. Now I can't use it for anything except game capture. Tell me, please, that there is way to solve this. ( ps.... there is no option in the Nvidia control panel either. )
 
No need. after 7 hours of fighting with this, someone suggested adding a new capture source and pointing that to Youtube and it worked fine. in the process it also seemed to resolve the original issue and I can now record fro YT using Game capture source as well. Weird.....
