Hello,

I have some problems with my OBS. When I try to capture a window like chrome or a game, the preview in OBS stays black. When I try to capture the task-manager or the cmd everything works fine. I have tried to solve the problem with this post https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/laptop-black-screen-when-capturing-read-here-first.5965/ but that doesnt help in any way. Maybe someone can help me.

Some Information:
OBS-Version: 22.0.2
Grafic-card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 TI
Its a Laptop

And here are the two last log-files:

If you need some more Information, feel free to contact me. :)

In order to window capture chrome, you must disable hardware acceleration in chrome's settings.

As for games, you should be using game capture for those and NOT window capture unless it's destiny 2.

Okay thanks for your answer. So far it works now with the recording, the only thing is when I try to record Windows 10 Apps the screen stays still black in OBS. Have you a solution for that too?

And another question, why we should stop saving directly to mp4? ;)
And how do we save it instead?

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to window-capture Windows 10 Apps. You have to resort to display capture.
You shouldn't record directly to mp4, because if OBS or your system crashes, the video file is completely destroyed and cannot be recovered. It must be finalized by gracefully stopping the recording. This is not a problem of OBS, this is a property of the file format.
The other formats are more robust, they can be recovered even after a crash.

Thanks for the answer Koala. I´m using flv instead of mp4.

The display capture doesnt work at all. I choose my monitor "0 1920x1080 @ 0,0", the only one I have and the screen stays also black.
