Question / Help Black Screen on Windows 7 Desktop computer with Nvidia Gforce 660

Aloha everyone. have a bit of a problem. First time using OBS so i make no assumptions that i know what i'm doing. tried to find guides online before posting here, but all of it is worthless in my case as it just covers laptops and not desktops. I have no such area in my Nvidia control panel in which all of the resources are speaking of to set it to maximum setting or some such nonsense. I have select program, and a bunch of little settings underneath that asking if i want to add ambient occlusion or anything else. I am running the latest update as of today for my Nvidia video card, and OBS is also current and up to date. even reinstalled my video card and OBS from scratch just to make sure.

bit at a loss as to what to do to resolve this issue as i've been completely unable to find any resources talking about desktop computers having this issue with Nvidia graphics cards.

You mean my monitor? or as in i didn't add twitch, because i did to both. otherwise i have no idea what you mean as a "source"
 
Can you clarafie, What is a source? Please explain in depth as if i was an idiot. Again, i just downloaded the software yesterday, tried to figure things out with some vids.... and got nowhere. I am not familiar with the OBS vernacular. I apologize for being a bit daft.
