Question / Help Black screen on PC in multiple games

Hello, I have just recently started having problems with OBS after a number of weeks without issue. I am using Windows 7 64-bit, and am now encountering a black screen when using game capture in any game (so far tested in Smite and Mass Effect 1 & 3). Window and desktop capture work fine, but are not ideal, so I am hoping to solve this and get game capture working again.

This problem has persisted despite a clean reinstall of the latest Nvidia drivers and the disabling of my internal video card. I am not aware of any changes on my PC that took place between now and the time when OBS worked perfectly with Smite in game capture mode. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yea, something strange is going on here, and it feels like there's something interfering. Some outside program you have on your computer, like another capture program, a program that displays custom in-game overlays (like teamspeak/mumble), or video card utilities. Do you by any chance have anything like that running? This is really weird, and I want to know what's causing it as much as you do.

Thanks for the response! Gave me some hope as I did indeed have a number of those things running (Mumble overlay, Steam, NVIDIA Experience), but after disabling them all there is still just a black screen. I also remember Mumble's overlay being present in the scene and not causing problems in the past. I have Bandicam installed but not running, is it possible that just its installation is interfering?

I'm having the same issue. I've updated my Nvidia GT 650 and read through Jims laptop 3D etc thread. Nothing still.

Sometimes having them installed can interfere, and they usually have some service active to put their own hooks in to libraries regardless of whether their program is active. Which one is doing that however I don't quite know.

Usually all you need to do is deactivate the windows service module that's running, you don't typically need to uninstall them or anything. Those service modules are usually what causes it to occur.

Success! Uninstalling both D3DGear and Bandicam seems to have done the trick. As I uninstalled Bandicam first without any results, it may have been just D3DGear that was causing a problem, or it may have been the interaction between the two of them together with OBS. Either way, game capture again works! I hope this may help you with your problem, theNomad.

Thanks for the good advice, Jim. I've attached a copy of my log now that it's working, in case it helps reveal anything useful for future diagnosis of this problem.
