When I go to screen capture a game I don't get a preview. All I get is a black screen. This didn't always use to be the case. However, I've searched online and tried everything I can find. Unfortunately, most of the suggestions involve switching to using the onboard graphics. I have an msi z390 a-pro motherboard though and there are no built in graphics. In any case, I don't really want to capture my desktop/whole screen anyway-I just want to capture my game. When I go to properties it looks like the screen is being captured, but I still can't see a preview or the video as it's being recorded.

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated! At this point I've exhausted all suggestions I could find on the internet.
