Hey guys. First, thank you and massive props for creating such awesome open source software. You guys are legends!

Using a laptop. 64bits i5. AMD graphics. Trying to capture screen. All I am getting in black screen.

Tried everything suggested in other threads and some youtubes. Starting as administrator, disabling hardware accelerator in chrome, uninstalling and reinstalling OBS, added the app to the switchable graphics list of apps and chose high performance mode... Nothing seems to work. Am I fucked? Perhaps I should install the 32 bit? Seems like a common problem. Please help.

Thanks heaps Mo

You have to be running OBS on the Intel GPU to use display capture.

You're running OBS on the AMD GPU.

Laptop? Black screen when capturing? Read here first.

Narcogen thanks heaps. You must be right. How do I run it on the Intel GPU. Trying to figure it out. Is it a setting in OBS (can't see it) or in my laptop display settings. It's not explained in the link you provided. Thanks again!

The link I posted describes where to do it, but just for Nvidia settings software.

I honestly don't know where the AMD cards do it since I don't use an AMD card in Windows.

Go to the nvidia control panel in windows control panel, and go to 3D settings on the left. Then, on the right pane, add the obs64.exe path to the drop-down list, and select it to use the NVIDIA ("High performance") adapter.

Oh yeah it seems sorted. I set OBS to power saving in switchable graphics. Also compatibility mode (Windows 7) seems helpful. Thanks Narcogen
