Question / Help Black screen - hook error

Hello,
I've been trying to stream Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD on my PC. I have upgraded my PC components and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit on a new HDD.

Using game capture, the screen is black if I pick the game from the dropdown menu, sound is still going. In the menu, there's also [DWM], when I pick that, it shows my whole screen (maximized OBS + taskbar). I Alt+Tab into the game, the screen stays, game audio plays and there's a tiny black rectange in OBS (I recorded it and attached a screenshot of what I mean).
The game unfortunately can't be forced into a window, otherwise I'd try Window capture.

Here's the list of things I tried:
  • disabled Uplay overlay, disabled Steam overlay, turned off browser, Skype, CPU monitoring software, TeamSpeak closed
  • running both game and OBS (64-bit) as administrator, tried running 32-bit OBS
  • game added as global source
  • adding OBS to Nvidia settings
  • tried to force game into a "window", worked temporarily (I could capture the 'window', go to the game and it would capture, however I could not go back with Alt+Tab to OBS, otherwise the game would switch back to fullscreen and would only capture black screen with sound running
  • uninstalled Nvidia GeForce Experience
  • I have the latest GPU drivers
I don't have any other overlays that are mentioned in the forums such as Fraps, MSI Afterburner, Raptr and no game mods.

My HW setup:
  • Intel i5-4460 CPU 3.20 GHz
  • ASUS H97M-Plus motherboard
  • NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX
  • Arctic-cooling Freezer 13
  • HyperX Fury 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 CL10
Streaming Garry's Mod works fine in fullscreen using Game Capture.

I'm really at a loss and would love if anyone could help me figure this out.

Yes, I have no other way to see if it's being captured. Didn't have problem tabbing out with other games.

Fullscreen games don't render while you're tabbed out.

You're going to need to do test recordings (and watch the recordings afterwards in a GOOD media player) or test streams and watch with another device.

For example when I pause Garry's mod and tab out, there is no black screen.

Either way, I recorded test streams (as I mentioned above) without tabbing out, use VLC to play them. Black screen, sound is working. From what I've seen in the forums, it could be a hooking issue from the log? But I have no idea what applications could be causing this.

Anyone has any other ideas? I've tried this with Assassin's Creed 3 and the same issue.

I've tried Witcher 2, Goat Simulator, Fistful of Frags, Rust, Unreal Tournament 2004 and these games all work in fullscreen with game capture. There's something about Assassin's Creed games that OBS doesn't like.
