In January, I upgraded my CPU from an AMD FX-6300 3.4 GHz CPU to an AMD FX-8350 4.0 GHz CPU, as well as my RAM from 8GB to 16GB. I hadn't used obs since before the upgrade, until today, and I found that my game capture will no longer capture any fullscreen games and instead is just a black screen with the game audio. Tested on DayZ Standalone and Arma 3.
I primarily use OBS for recording and streaming DayZ. When I had the same problem with Arma 3 I switched to fullscreen windowed mode which gave me a new option to select in the game capture Applications drop down menu
.
[arma3]: Arma 3 is the normal selection I used to use, which no longer works but after switching to fullscreen windowed mode and refreshing the applications in obs an additional option appeared containing the entire filepath for my arma 3 application:
[arma3]; Arma 3 "C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma3\arma3.exe"
As soon as that is the selected application I can switch Arma 3 back to regular fullscreen mode and the Game Capture will continue to pick up the game as long as that application filepath is selected.
This fix however is not an option for DayZ because there is no option to switch to windowed mode to make OBS recognize the DayZ application filepath. All I can get is: [DayZ]: DayZ which has always worked great in the past.
I tried Monitor capture as well and OBS oddly captures the DayZ cursor but displays it on my desktop as if it is seeing right through the game. I was wondering if there is any known cause/fix for this. I assume it is my hardware change that OBS is having trouble with but could it perhaps have been caused by a recent OBS update?
Let me know if there is any other information I can provide that would be helpful. Thank you!
