Question / Help Black Screen Game Capture (Desktop)

I'm getting black screens on a lot of games. for example, Garry's Mod works, but Left 4 Dead 2 doesn't. Only a couple of my games are working. Trying to stream/record (separate).

I disabled my iGPU that comes with the 4670k, so I'm only using my dedicatd GPU.

Just tested L4D2 just to make sure because I have it, and it's working fine on my end. I feel like there's potentially interference from something. Interference meaning things like other capture programs, game mods and graphics mods (sweetfx in particular), graphics card utilities like msi afterburner or the EVGA 'K boost' feature (I think it's called), or programs that put in custom in-game overlays for their program, such as teamspeak/mumble overlays.

I do have EVGA Precision X open, but not K-boost. Does the same thing for both Teamspeak and Skype when closed or open. I have also tried reinstalling OBS.

It's not just L4D2, It's pretty much all my games except for a couple. I will try closing programs 1 by 1 to see If anything Is causing It. I have disabled steam and origin overlays as well, no luck.

Yes!

It was a program called "Peek Through" causing the Issues.

Even when fully closed, It still caused the Issue. Right after uninstalling, It's all good.

So If anyone else Is having black screen Issues after trying to figure out overlays when streaming, try uninstalling Peek Through If you ended up downloading It :)

Thanks for taking the time to track it down. I'll look into this and see why it's causing an issue, most likely it installs some hook though.

Hey buddy, It might help to create your own thread. People looking at this one will see It Is solved, and not really pay much attention to you. Be sure to post your logs, and maybe a list of active processes (was a process In my case causing the Issue).
