Question / Help Black Screen Every Time OBS Starts

So I see the black screen issue constantly on the web, but I can't find anything specific to my issue. 9 times out of 10 every time my OBS opens I cannot game capture any of my games without playing with all kinds of resizing, reordering, refreshing this and that. Before it goes into what games and such, I play ARK and League of Legends so far and I use this program all the time for both. The issue is something is resetting when I close OBS and it's back to that pain in the rear black screen leaving me to play with all the settings again. Sometimes I can get it to work, sometimes I shut it down, curse and lose a good video I could have had.

With that being said, is there ANYTHING I can do to stop this from constantly messing up? I just finished a video, closed OBS, realized I messed it up, reopened OBS and once again it's a black screen I can't get to change. I JUST USED IT. I didn't change anything.

You have to select the game source and go into properties to select the active window while the game is running. I recommend making multiple game sources and rename them to the specific games you want to play. Select the video sources accordingly, and it shouldn't happen again. Just a learning curve. That is exactly how it is already set up. Each game has a different source code. As I already explained, it DOES work, it just doesn't work after I shut down the program and bring it up later.
