Hi guys,

I'm running a Dell Laptop (Dell XPS 15 | 9506) and have used OBS screen recording in the past without issue. However, recently it's STOPPED working for me. Have gone through several tutorial videos trying to fix but no resolution. Yes, have also read the 'sticky' post in the forum here about laptops. Tried updating the NVIDIA card to "INTEGRATED GRAPHICS", but that did not resolve.

Also UNINSTALLED/REINSTALLED OBS but still no resolution.

Here is the most recent log file from OBS....any help is appreciated. Also, for some reason when I'm in OBS, and go to HELP, CHECK FOR UPDATES I'm seeing the error message I've attached but can't find anything running that might be causing this.

Laptop? Black screen when capturing? Read here first.

Depending on your Windows version and what sources you wish to use, you may need to set OBS to run on a specific GPU. Not sure which Windows version you have? Press Windows+R and run "winver". For Windows 10 1909 or newer: Open Settings and search for "Graphics Settings". Select "Classic App"...

Thank you!! That did it....I read that 'sticky' a few times but I guess I didn't fully understand it. Went back through it and now everything is working!

Thanks again! Took me a while to finally find this forum, create an account, and post here but glad I did. None of the YouTube Videos specifically addressed this issue. It was that 'GRAPHIC SETTINGS' piece I was missing (attached) for "DISPLAY CAPTURE".
