Question / Help Black Screen, always fails to start recording.

I'm on a laptop, and obs simply won't show anything on screen (except for my mouse on a window capture), and it also won't let me record anything, giving me an error when I try. Some specific applications work in the window capture, but I still can't record.
I am using obs only for recording, and no streaming.

Regarding error: your GPU doesn't support nvenc. Change the encoder to x264 in Settings->Output.

Ok, I switched the encoder, which allows for recording - thanks!

However, as for the black screen, I have an Intel settings menu instead of an NVIDIA one. This wouldn't be too much of a problem if there was a "select the preferred graphics processor" button, but I don't see one anywhere in the menu.
