Question / Help Black Output when recording (using laptop)

Hi, I need some help as I get black output when recording in-game. The game I'm playing is Dragon Nest.

I have tried to find if there have been any solutions to my problem, but it seems the solution is customised. I tried the fix for the laptop, but it did not work.

One thing that worked a bit was running the program as admin mode would allow me to see the game show in the OBS window. Without running as admin, nothing shows at all. Attached are the logs. The first one has no admin, and the other has admin mode.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm not a tech nerd ._.

The option to put it in the nvidia GPU doesn't exist. The nvidia control panel only gives me high-performance NVIDIA processor and Integrated graphics as the only options I can toggle it to. I think I put it in the high-performance NVIDIA processor which I thought was the GPU. Turns out I can't seem to toggle it on the GPU. It doesn't seem to work. Running on admin mode will let it show on the programme, but all my recordings don't have any visuals. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I am having the same issue - I tried all those things with my NVIDIA card above but still a black screen. how do I run obs as administrator?

I added an external camera and adapter but continued to to have the same problem. The final part of the solution was to go to properties for the video capture device that I had set up and change the video format from "any" to one of the alternatives. the video from the camera came up and then I could even change it back to "any" if I wanted to. I set OBS to my NVIDIA card earlier as per Jim (link above) but that alone did not fix the problem. Now it works fine. Thanks for the pointers EBrito. Aruthea, try making that change in properties, hopefully that will work for you too.
