After some experimenting around we have a pretty stable situation now with:
- OBS 64bit: 18.0.1
- Motherboard: ASUS H270M-PLUS
- CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7600 CPU @ 3.50GHz
- W10 64 bit
- DDR4 16G, 250G SSD, Synology NAS
- Black Magic Intensity Shuttle USB3
- OBS Encoding QSV: Dual Streaming and Recording of composite video only consumes 7% CPU load
Sharing some experience for others to benefit from:
First hurdle to over come was to have a stable BM via USB3. Needed to disable all USB ports in BIOS and only leave one active for the Shuttle. BM support advised a Renases chip on a PCIe card. Installed the following and now works like a charm (also can use the MoBo ports now again for other purposes):

Question:
- When using the Black Magic Audio it first worked fine. But after a while no sound came out of it anymore during streaming and recording, while the green line indicator is nicely jumping that there is audio. Impossible to get it active again, otherwise than reinstalling OBS. Same behavior on another PC. Also happened with a Hauppauge device. When it is locked out you don't get it back.
- We worked around it by Settings->Audio->Mic/Auxilary Device and than selection Black Magic.Hence adding a second audio source, and within there BM again.
- Question: Is this a bug?
