Question / Help Black capture screen with Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus

Hey All,

I'm trying to capture the game Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus that just came out but every time I go to the game My game capture only shows a black screen.

I have tried using Game Capture, Window Capture and Display Capture and all of them turn to black when I focus on the game window. This is the first game that has done this for me.

I can see in the log that the capture is failing for some reason.

Any help would be appreciated.

I managed to get past this by capturing my display after I had the game loaded up and streaming started. I am using studio mode too btw.

yes obs 20.1 black screen in all option screen, full or windowed....please help for streaming wolfestein.

Wolfenstein 2 uses Vulkan instead D3D11 and i think obs dont support vulkan games, sadly (at least for now), we have to wait for bethesda/nvidia/amd give some fix game updates/drivers update for compatibility with obs, because i dont think obs developers will release a vulkan support from night to the morning

Have you figured out any other way to play in full screen? I feel like I've seen a lot of people streaming it so I don't know why we are having issues.

i removed geforce xperience and poof i can stream this game with display capture. Game capture fails and window capture only shows ingame menu not game.

If you want just record it, play it on windows mode and also use Borderless Gaming, and its the same as if you are playing in full screen/borderless mode but also you can record it, because vulkan can only be recordered in windows mode at least with nvidia shadowplay works so smooth like obs or whatever you wish to use to record the desk screen, at least for now its the only solution for vulkan games like this until bethesda release an update to make can switch from vulkan to opengl/d3d11 or some modder who will make this

Yea so the only thing I can record in is windowed with the border around it which is really annoying. My thing is though, how are there so many people on steam recording??

Same issue, nothing works. Friend streams in windowed, appearently works for him or i missed another detail.

windowed works for me to but I want to be at least able to play in windowed borderless or fullscreen.

As some people have already said the only work around that I came up with is to play the game in windowed mode and use borderless gaming to shift the window and use Window capture for the stream.

Worked fine to play just have to play with the task bar showing.

Doesnt seem to work at all for me except mayble Display Capture but thats only with Window Mode :/

Wolfenstein II is Vulkan only and OBS has yet to support game capture on Vulkan-based games.

I use Display Capture on OBS Studio with the game in Borderless Window, that works for me.

can confirm it wont work with game capture.

We found out the way to broadcoast Vulkan:
open game in windowed mode
and then capture the screen, not the game

Also Monitor Capture works fine and I notice no performance drops with Windows 10

Try running OBS as an administrator; it fixed the issue for me.

OBS version: 30.1.2
Nvidia driver: 560.81
Windows 11
