I want to start streaming but it seems weird because I have these black bars around my game. Can someone help me set up my resolution please?

What I do to ensure capturing something at its own resolution and avoiding black bars is the following:
  • Window Capture whatever it is I want to capture, making sure to Set Base Resolution in option window for Window Capture.
  • Cancel the Window Capture
  • Game Capture whatever it is I want to capture.
You see, Set Base Resolution will in fact apply its settings even if you don't actually add the Window Capture.

What are you trying to capture?

I want to capture myself playing League of Legends that is pretty much all

LoL requires a very specific setup; as it uses a 2-window model.

  • Grab this plugin.
  • Set up 2 scenes:
    • Game Capture of its match window, using the trick I mentioned in my first post to capture it in its own resolution. So, start setting up a Window Capture of its match window, but don't click OK, just click Set Base Resolution and then cancel the Window Capture and add it as a Game Capture instead.
    • Window Capture of its main window.
    • Use the scene switcher plugin to switch automatically between the 2.

You have "black bars" because the Twitch player is 16:9 and your resolution is 4:3 (1600x1200, downscaled to 640x480). If you fullscreen your stream, you'll see the black bars disappear since your monitor resolution matches your stream resolution.

If you don't want black bars, you have a couple options:
* Change your base resolution to 16:9, and fill the black bars with extra content (Twitch chat overlay, webcam, etc)
* Play your game in Windowed mode at a 16:9 resolution
* Stretch your game picture (NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL)
* Live with the black bars

How do you get the twitch chat overlay

I am upgrading my computer very soon. Do you have any suggestions on what I should get for Gaming and streaming? streaming 720P is just fine for me so anything that will run 720 without lag or anything would be great
