Question / Help Bitrate & FPS Drops For 2 Years

Hello everyone,

I've had this ongoing issue while streaming where I'll drop frames and bitrate (quality of the stream) at the same time, this occurs 5-20 times per hour and these spikes last roughly 30 seconds. Ran ping tests to google.com while streaming and noticed ping was normal while spikes were occurring in stream quality.

List of things I've tried:
- Changed modem 3 times
- Contacted ISP 20+ times
- Changed Ethernet cables
- Updated drivers and network cards
- Streamed to different servers
- Changed bitrate and resolution
- Used Twitch test and Twitch inspector
- Messed with all sorts of OBS settings

Any help would be extremely appreciated, thank you in advance.

I would recommend to stream in 720p/60fps with 3500 bitrate.

Interesting would be if you have connection issues when you encounter the spikes. I mean, can you still surf around the internet? Can you watch a youtube video or something when the spikes happen?

Yes, I'm still able to browse the internet and do all sorts of stuff whenever the spikes occur.

Also, why would you recommend 720p instead of 1080p?

Because you are using a 3500 Bitrate. 1080p/60fps should be at least 6000 bitrate.
And what I can tell you from my personal perspective is that 720p/60fps or even 900p/60fps looks nicer in high motion games.
Except you have an ultra monster CPU that can handle 1080p/60fps on at least medium preset.

But when you stick with 3500 bitrate I recommend 720p/60fps. When you only play Hearthstone or similar games without high motion scenes like PUBG or Fortnite then you can stick with 1080 on 3500 bitrate.
