Question / Help Best Settings for my PC?

I really want to record my videos in .MP4 format, so editing is easier. I've been using D3DGear, and it works great, but it uses an AVI format that is very unpopular among video editors. I use the HandBrake video transcoder to convert them to .MP4, but the quality is slightly lowered and the fps goes from 60 to 47.5. I also would like to use OBS because the filesize is much smaller than that of Fraps, DxTory, Action, and D3DGear, but OBS uses up too much CPU, so my bad PC can't handle it without the output having low quality and choppy frames.

Specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 730

Scenario:

Game playing: Minecraft
CPU used by the game alone: 50-80%

Settings:

Bitrate: 3500
Buffer size: 3500
Use CBR: On
Enable Custom Buffer size: On
Base Resolution (Canvas): 1080p
Output Resolution (Scaled) 1080p
Resolution Downscale: 1280x720 (1.50)
Frames per second: 30
CPU Usage Preset: Ultrafast

Expectations: 720p, 1080 if possible, and 60fps if possible.

I used to record using a capture card on a Core 2 Duo, except with a GTX 560 Ti, which is far superior to a GT730. It struggled. You're playing Minecraft at the same time on the same PC? I really don't think that's going to work out well for you.

I've also tried using a GT 630, which is very similar to a GT 730, and it also struggled using NVEnc. But I agree that's probably your only chance.

Speaking of which @Dasweb once said he was going to get a GT730 on his streaming PC. How did that work out Dasweb? Does it perform ok with NVEnc?
