Hello, i just got an AV composite usb capture adapter, and i would like to usb OBS to digitize some old VHS tapes that ive got amd i would like to have the correct setup. And since the tapes have to play real time it is a hassle to experiment over and over.

-First off, how do i select deinterlace method for output file, and what is the best method. i think ive read yadif2 is the best one

-Im having some sounds problems. When i use an output to hear what is played on OBS, like on preview scree, then the resulted file has an echoeing effect. If i turn of sound on preview, i dont have that, but sound is muffled and bad quality. What can be done to get the best audio results

-Does container file matter? Mkv or mp4 for example

-Anything else i need to make sure i set while recording the files?

Thanx guys any help will be appreciated

I'm still very new to using OBS, but my guess as to why you're getting the echo is that you have Desktop Audio listed as an audio source. Basically any sound you hear through your computer, including any monitoring you're doing of your VHS playback, is also being written to the video file you're creating. You can disable Desktop Audio under Settings > Audio > Global Audio Devices. You might also be able to just click the sound icon on the row for the Desktop Audio source under the "Audio Mixer" section so that it turns red and gets a little "x".

For deinterlace, with the video source selected under "Sources", right-click the video preview and you'll see a "Deinterlace" submenu. It probably reads "Disabled" right now. I'm trying out Yadif right now myself.

I've read that we should capture to mkv, something about overhead involved with mp4. However, I've captured hour-long videos from a USB interface directly to mp4 with no problems.
