Hello!
I am trying to help my son to do movies with this software. I am not so good at this so just trying to understand how to create a scene gets me into trouble...
How do I create a scene?
Then it says start streaming. Do I connect to somewhere if he wants to play and comment at the same time and make a movie out of that.
Or is there a simpler software for him to begin with?
Thank you for your help!

These are something you'll have to browse over to understand what OBS is doing. think of a scene as a butcher block paper where you can write on. the sources will be like the clear overlay paper that you can write on a different layer to gain the desired output.
in scenes, you can make different outputs to show up the way you wish but the sources are overlays and can be resized by pressing edit scene and highlighted in red.
sources at the top of the sources list will show up in front in an overlayed fashion.
notes, do not use a monitor capture and a game capture in the same scene. use a game capture for games OR OpenGL/Direct3D applications. these can be done in windowed or full screen mode. use window capture for windows that do not run full screen. this would be like, you have a desktop program that you want to show like skype, etc.
video capture devices are use for like webcams or capture cards which can bring in a scene from an external video source. you will mainly use capture cards for capturing consoles or a gaming PC and the PC with OBS will be a dedicated OBS computer.
monitor capture is last resort and does not always perform as good as the rest.
when you get done setting up your scenes, and setting up your twitch settings (see twitch.tv for an OBS guide on settings) post a link to your logfile from the help menu from when you streamed for 5 minutes or more
