Hellou!
my monitor resolution is 2560x1440. games I play in resolution 2560x1440. I'm streaming in 1920x1080 resolution. What would happen if I set the OBS Base (Canvas) Resolution to 1920x1080 resolution and streamed in 1920x1080 resolution? Will performance improve and stream image worsen?
Well thank you

I encourage you to simply try this simple change and see yourself. You will probably see no difference in quality or system load, except if you're using some custom overlay or widget to personalize your stream. This will be rescaled from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 in your current setup, and not rescaled in your alternate setup, so it will appear sharper if it was created for 1920x1080 in the first place.

And your 2560x1440 sized sources won't just fit into the canvas, as expected. Resizing the one or other way need to take place.
So playing in 1080p will spare cpu and gpu time in the game as well as in obs. And there would be no need for a resizing algorithm/calculation effort.

If you're native 2560x1440p and can run 6000 bitrate (upload dependant)
Better to run downscaled resolution as 1536×864

Monitor: 2560x1440
in game: 2560x1440

VIDEO:
OBS Base (Canvas) Resolution: 1920x1080
Output (Scaled) Resolution: 1920x1080

will the image be sharper?
will the GPU and CPU be less load? or not?
