Question / Help Bad PC performance after opening OBS for the first time

It took me a while to realise this, but after I open OBS and streaming for a bit, even if I close the program and stop streaming, my PC just loses performance on everything. It takes 10-15 seconds to open a new tab in Chrome (usually takes less than a second). Takes too long to open programs and just general 'lag'.
CPU usage is < 10% and memory usage is low as well.
I'm using Windows 7 on a SSD.

Any ideas?

A little bit more information would be helpful , like a dxdiag logfile or at least your system specs and maybe an obs logfile too.

Specs:
Geforce GTX 670
I7 2600k
Gigabyte Z68MA (onboard vga disabled on BIOS)
Kingston 2x4gb

I'll try to see what exactly I have to do in OBS to reach this 'lag' state, as I'm not sure just opening it will cause this.

Monitor capture with aero enabled is the problem. Use window capture or game capture instead, or if you -have- to use monitor capture, disable aero in video settings.
