Question / Help Background FPS

So I'm having an issue with FPS for OBS only. The only way I know how to describe it is for example WoW has a FPS setting for Background FPS target. You can set it to 1-200. Well when I have OBS selected like I want to change settings or something in it's perfect. But if I go back to the game and OBS is now a background process my FPS drops to 15 in OBS but my game runs fine. It does the exact same thing when streaming and in preview mode. I even added it to the list of games in Radeon settings.

Well I turn windowed capture off in all my scenes that the FPS drop stopped. But not I'm dropping 60% of my frames. I have 125mpbs down and 25mbps upload. I ran speedtest and everything checked out ok.

you also have quite junk of late and duplicated frames besides your dropped frames

for the dropped frames you can try changing the ingest servers but other than that lowering your bitrate and see if it stops at some point.

for the late and duplicated frames i suggest testing a completly empty scene with only a game capture running in the scene and using the veryfast preset

make sure to at least test it for 5-10 minutes and then post the new log.

well I did what you said and lowered the bitrate to 1800 and i've seemed to have stopped with the dropped frames. That is weird because I have a 25mbps upload but OBS goes over 1800 and i drop frames like crazy.

Hi guys, did you figure out what was wrong? I'm having the exact same problem with my obs as well. In preview and on stream my FPS just drops as soon as I click outside of OBS and onto a game. I can click on google chrome and other applications and it's fine. My game is fine and the frame rate really doesn't drop at all, but without fail, no matter the settings, this happens. My CPU isn't even topped out either. I updated my GPU and this is a fairly new computer. I have a high internet connection. 78 up and 11 down. It seems I only have this problem with PC games. When I use an Aver Media Capture Card for my console streams they are great quality and fast, probably because I'm not clicking on a PC game. I've even tried different servers and encoding.

I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.
