Question / Help Avermedia Live Gamer Portable

Hi, I'm looking into purchasing an HD capture card for console streaming to twitch via OBS, and the LGP looks to be the cheapest option for a decent card. I remember hearing back when they came out that OBS and the LGP weren't compatible, and I haven't been able to find any updates on this. Is there anyone out there that can confirm/deny if it works, or am I better off just spending the extra money on a live gamer HD?

Yes, it works. I generally don't recommend getting USB 2.0 HD a capture card, though, because they can be frustrating to work with sometimes, especially when dealing with their built-in delay. USB 3.0 capture cards (other than the BMIS) and PCIe capture cards will be more reliable and less of a headache.

Thanks for the info! I'm not a fan of delay, so it looks like a pci-e card or usb 3 is going to be better for me. Is there anything that's similar quality but less than the $175 pricetag of the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD? (I'm expecting to spend more than 100 bucks for a good hd card, just wondering what my options are if it's possible to save.)

Specifically, the one i'm interested in is the Black Magic intensity Shuttle. Would there be any drawbacks to this over the live gamer hd?

The BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle is the one USB 3.0 device (as I pointed out above) that I do not recommend, due to its finicky drivers. It's really a pain to work with, so unless you really need it, I don't recommend it.

Before answering your question, what console are you going to be streaming? And if you intend on using HDMI, will you require passthrough on the card, or will you be using a splitter?

i'm primarily going to be streaming Wii U (via hdmi). I don't have a splitter, and if I don't have to buy one, that would be nice. The black magic caught my eye because of the component and svideo options as well, it would be nice not to be solely limited to HDMI in case I wanted to stream older consoles and not have to switch to my dazzle, but that's not really a requirement.

Edit: Sorry, I just re read your last message and comprehended what BMIS stood for, lol.
