Question / Help AverMedia Live Gamer Portable C875 Frozen in OBS

So I have a Windows 10 machine, I7 OBS runs great in this machine. I have this AverMedia Live Gamer Portable c875 and they say with the streamer app that you download for it that it will work in OBS. Well I have tried just about everything and all I get is a frozen image in OBS.. When I launch the Streamer app, my entire system also lags to the point of being unless even after you shut the app down AND its not from a High CPU so.. I also have that going on. The main goal is to get this capture device to work in OBS and not present a frozen image. When opening the recording app from AverMedia.. displays a smooth incoming image...but it will not stream to OBS.. I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

dont use the avermedia app, just get the drivers only. Let OBS do its thing. you can't have 2 software programs try to both take exclusive control at the same time.

I've tried that too but obs won't pull video from it and I know the device works.. I just can not get OBS to pull video from it and when it does.. It's a frozen image.. I'm usually good with this stuff but this stumps me.

To be clear, the device works with it's own app? but not with obs studio?

Well i recall years ago when i tried some LGX extreme usb 3 cards, actually got 2 of them. There was a certain driver i recalled that simply just outright didn't work, and the only solution was the previous driver. Unfortunately that is quite the common thing at least back then, but hardware companies have different levels of quality control. I think avermedia created those cards too.
So i'd check that. Check cabling, check different port/slot.
Is there any options related in bios which could help, check that too.

edit: i just searched your card and they only provide 2 driver versions, of the same build. that is just awful. I'm so sorry for suggesting previous driver, but idk. It was a thought anyway. Can you check with task manager if some driver related app is running in the background that could be interferring with obs perhaps?

Yes works in its own app but not with OBS.. It does pull an image but after a few frames, it freezes the image. Tried different cables and ports.. Same issue. I've seen this device work with obs in video but I'm not sure what I may be missing..

Ok here is the log file. The issue I am having is with the AverMedia Live Gamer Portable or as it shows in OBS and freezes the video. The input is called LGP Stream Engine

I also want to add that after adding the source, it still will not show anything unless I unplug the HDMI from the capture device and then plug it back in. I will get 1 secs of video then it freezes in OBS...

According to the logs, you're attempting to add two separate sources that use the capture device. Make sure you only have once source that points to it -- if you need multiple instances of the capture device, then choose the existing source instead of making a new one.

I have no completly removed OBS so ensure nothing like that happens..same results with this capture device. I bought this silly device after watching several..SEVERAL videos on this thing with OBS, I get it and doesnt work. I dont understand why I get a 1 second motion from the video, then it freezes and the only way to get it to show in OBS is the removed the HDMI from the device then plug it back again and it will thing again grab 1 second of video and freeze. Ive attached yet another log file

Remove the device from your Music Videos and RearShot (REC) scene, and just add it back in your Music Videos scene.

If it works there, then add it back to your RearShot (REC) scene by selecting that source from the lower section when you go to add it.

Yeah duplicating instances of stuff that tries to do hardware control on the same thing - TERRIBLE idea.
Somehow it has been added. You should try to start with a fresh scene collection/fresh profile and simply try just adding it 1 time.

I did all of that.. see new log file

Need admin mode, you still got different bitrate for some audio devices. Not too sure about that igpu solution. It will just put more strain on your cpu regardless once u get this up and running. Forget about playing games for sure.

It seems to me at this point to toss this capture card. It shouldn't be this insanely difficult to get up and running.
On that note, what is a suggested capture device that actually works well for OBS?
