Hi, I bought the Live gamer HD to stream and I would looking for someone with experience on this device. I installed the device and now I'm at the part to install the updates.

I read many reviews and they said if you updated to the v22 firmware then you could brick the card. I was looking for someone who possibly knows the correct way to install the software to avoid the risk of RMA.

Here's the link to the support page with all of the possible drivers: http://gamerzone.avermedia.com/support/download/live_gamer_hd

Here's the older website for older versions of the driver if that'll work better, I'm not sure: http://www.avermedia-usa.com/avertv/product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=513&tab=APDriver

I have the same card and was in the same position you were in 4 months ago.
What I did.

1. Install Application and driver from CD
2. reboot
3. run firmware update (downloaded from website v22)
4. reboot
5. Run Application and driver from website
6. reboot
7. profit

Running stable ever since.

Yeah it didn't ship with the CD and I bought it brand new. So I need to download drivers and firmware from the actual website but I'm not sure what drivers to download.

Yeah, I ended up solving my issue by myself with more in-depth research on the proper way to install the updates to avoid RMAing the card. Thanks eldiablo for at least trying to help. I guess this forum is more for motivating to do it yourself than to have more people try and help.

How did you install it? I think i may have screwed up the Audio side of the card. It no longer seems to pick up audio through HDMI. Did I brick it? Video works fine audio does not. Before the firmware update it worked fine.

Install the latest drivers from the AVerMedia website, then run the firmware updater. It's either going to work or not, short of you completely botching the simple task of installing drivers I don't think you'll have any control over the process. There is no magical installation order of upgrading from one driver/software set to another beforehand.

Is there a reason that my capture card and audio worked perfectly fine before upgrading firmware and now it doesnt?

@kpelkey151 Remove and re-add the LGHD source in OBS with default settings, see if that helps. You may also want to check that the crossbar is configured properly, but for an HDMI connection it should "just work." Do you get audio in RECentral?

@Sapiens I am not currently using LGHD just using video capture device. Do I need to use LGHD if I am not using it to record the game-play just stream it? I ended up getting it to work after I noticed that the cables seemed a little loose, so I switched them out and it started working again. Then last night when I went to stream it was not working as I did not change anything. I attempted many times to test to see if the cables are working properly. I do agree that HDMI should "just work" as it did the first times before I downloaded the new firmware, v22. I have attempted to record with RECentral but when I went to play the video I did not have the proper codec to view the video which added to my frustration. Is there a certain process that I have to go through to stream properly? Like computer on with OBS up before I turn on the game console? Also I am not to familiar with crossbar options.

"Video capture device" is a type of source in OBS used for...well, video capture devices, like webcams and capture cards. If you want to use your LGHD capture card with OBS then yes, you have to add it as a video capture device source. How are you using OBS to stream your console gameplay if you aren't adding a source for your capture card?

I am sorry I thought you were talking about the stream engine software. But yes I have it as a video capture device. After reading another post. Here, I have a feeling that my audio might be getting defaulted in the wrong place. The first times I streamed my DVI monitor that has internal speakers was connected then I would disconnect that and plug my Xbox into that monitor. The last few times I have been starting my computer with that monitor disconnected. So could it be attempting to use my Headphones as the default audio source causing no audio from the capture card to go through. Is that a possible thought? I will have to try when I get home.

Update: So I tested out some things. When my monitor is plugged into my computer (grapichs card) the sound of my game comes through. This is when the hdmi pass through is not plugged in. However when I plug the pass through into it. I have to use an hdmi to dvi adpater. The sound goes away. The last time I did this the sound of the game stayed ont he stream but got progressively lower until there is no sound now. Any idea what is going on?

Edit: If I unplug the pass through cable with dvi adapter on it the sound comes back on stream.
