Question / Help Avermedia live gamer hd as source in OBS compared to Xsplit

Hello streamers/gamers,

I used to use xsplit for multiple reasons but OBS seems more user friendly and a bit more supported and loved by the community, alos iam a casual streamer and I dont want to pay for it so I would like to try the OBS with 30 fps 720p.

The only problem i am having is that I have avermedia live gamer HD card which I use for youtube videos for recording games in 1080p. I used this card for streaming with xsplit which was awesome because I selected this card as "capture source" in xsplit and it basically showed my desktop and everything that was going on at my primary monitor.

When I do the same in OBS though, it only works when I run games in Windowed or bordeless mode, when I switch a game to fullscreen in for example 1280x720 res while my native is 1920x1080 the OBS displays a black screen and I wonder why this works in xsplit and not in OBS.

If I add a game capture in OBS my FPS while streaming drops drastically and i am not able to deliver a solid performance in CS:GO whereas in xsplit my Avermedia card is working fine and i feel NO FPS drop while streaming.

Please advise :( this is basically making me use the xsplit while I would love to use the OBS :(

Unfortunately I currently do not know of a workaround for this.
The Avermedia card I use (game broadcaster hd) for example does not send the correct input resolution to OBS apparently. Unless I set a custom resolution it will try to use 1280x1024.

What I would suggest you is to setup two scenes (do not add the live gamer as a global source) and in one scene configure it to 1280x720 and in the other use 1920x1080.

Another idea (for a 720p stream) would be to set the Live Gamer to 1280x720 at 60fps, to my knowledge it should then downscale any 1080p input for you. But someone with a live gamer might correct me on this.
(In this case set OBS to 1280x720 too, in most cases you dont need any downscale)
