Question / Help Average FPS in Game vs 60fps in OBS

I have a question regarding the FPS setting in OBS.

I recently did a stream at 1080p60, and while my CPU was nearly capped on usage throughout the stream and there were some minor hiccups, it was overall really good, and everyone enjoyed it.

My question is, since my game can barely reach 60fps at 1080p, is it worth having the stream at 60fps, or can I bring it down to 30fps?

I have already scaled my video to 720p for future streams to help with CPU usage.

For recording I'd probably prefer 1080p30. For streaming I'd choose 720p60 if possible, but 720p30 is also fine. Really depends on the game though. 1080p60 isn't a good option for streaming unless you have a high core count CPU and the internet bandwidth to back it up.

Yeah, I have a quad-core i5 with a 14-16Mbps upload. 1080p60 was doable with a bit of pixelation (due to video bitrate in OBS set to 2500, and also Twitch only allowing 6K). I was mainly curious if going 60fps for recording/streaming was even worth it if the PC can't even output that fps in real-time, or if it is ok to have it at 60fps regardless for the high fps count of the stream itself?

I think it can be worth it to record at 60fps even if your PC's framerate bounces between 30 and 60. But recording or streaming 1080p at 2500kbps is definitely not worth it. Hot garbage. If you can't do 6Mbps just downscale it to 720p.

Oh yeah for sure I know that 2500 is no where near it, it was just the default setting OBS was at, and I just hadn't re-adjusted it. If my upload is max 14Mbps, can I put my bitrate to 8000, and still be ok?

Probably, depending on who you're sending to. Twitch's max is 6000, not 8000, for example. Also, do you have transcodes and if not will your viewers be able to download the stream at that rate?
