Question / Help Automatic start/stop recording if Mediasource is enabled

This question is maybe unusual:

I want to brand an existing local Video with a Watermark, so I used a top layer a transparent PNG with the watermark GFX, and on the 2nd layer the local stored Video. Works all fine.

My question now: is it possible to automatically start the (local) recording, and automatically stop it when the Video ends with activating the inactive/disabled Mediasource?

Or the other way: if I start recording, that the Video in the Mediasource starts at the beginning with recording start, and the recording stops automatically when the Video is over?

If what you want is to watermark an existing video, what you should be using is video editing software, which OBS isn't.

I know that there is other software out there, it's just that obs is set up for streaming with the same watermark, and it would be easier to have only one software installed. That would be an awesome feature.

Never mind, i play around with scenes and fade effects, to compensate the reaction time for manual start/stop. Is there a possibility to show (not in the Media, but in the OBS interface) the total play time, and the already played time of a Media source? (would be helpful with the manual stop)?

My workaround now is to use shortcuts to enable the Media source and the recording start - as OBS shows the played time in the Status bar, and the total time is knowing, a manual stop will be made the user.

JFI if someone is searching for a solution.

Maybe an automatic version (checkbox in the media properties: automatic start/stop of recording) will come in the future - it would be nice.

I work with the same task. I need to start playing the video file and record mix with the video capture. Tell me more, how did you solve the problem?
