Audio still lagging behind even at max sync offset

You didn't adjust it the wrong direction, did you? If you misunderstand what it does, it's an easy mistake to make. Especially if you put in something from theory without testing it first, see that it needs tweaking (because it didn't need what you did to start with), and adjust it the wrong way from there.
