I have my gaming PC and my streaming PC.

My capture card is the new Elgato HD 60 Pro (Internal Capture Card).

My gaming PC has a Sound Blaster Z PCIe and my streaming PC has a Sound Blaster X-Fi HD USB.

Can I theoretically route the sound from my gaming PC's sound card out through the SPDIF Out to my streaming PC's USB sound card's SPDIF in?

And furthermore, can I split the sound from my gaming PC to be shared between my headset, which has a base station with an SPDIF port, and the streaming PC?

Thanks.

I think you can use a virtual audio splitter to resend the audio that comes in your headset back through the SPDIF out. I've yet to play with this, I just know its possible.

Thank you for the reply.

My headset (SteelSeries H Wireless) doesn't have an optical out. But with you having said it's possible, can I theoretically use an SPDIF splitter to split the signal from my gaming PC to my headset and to my streaming PC?

Also, I tested it out by simply connecting the optical cable from my gaming PC's internal sound card directly to my streaming PC's USB sound card, but no sound was captured. Is there something I'm missing?

you'd need software that will split the audio to another output because if you change the default audio device, you will no longer be able to hear it from your headsets.

So the software like VAC is still needed even though I have this physical splitter:

Sewell Direct SW-30538 Lightwave 1x3 Optical Toslink Splitter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VJ8MP6O/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_6JprwbVYNPSB7?

Thanks for discussing. I appreciate having someone else's opinion in case I'm missing something.
i do not know how splitting loslink works but I would assume splitting light would be fine with a quality splitter, but I thought you said that your headset didn't have a SPDIF connector.
