Having problems with external mics maxing out and clipping sound from acoustic recordings (oboe and doublebass). H4n built-in mics function well as USB input mics (recording levels between 40-50) , but loses some sound nuance. sE7 mics pick up nuance but max out very easily, even at lowest recording levels. Tried the 20 db attenuator on the mics, but got too much hiss. Bass is about 3' from mic; oboe 6' away. Using one sE7 for mono recording, set at recording level ca. 20, spaced between instruments got a nice room, voice, and instrumental sound and didn't max out.
Any tips for making the external mics work as a pair? Really like their sound individually, but when both are used the sound always clips.
Change distance from mics? OBS audio settings? Ways to filter attenuator static? Facebook defaults need to be taken into account?
