I've been helping a friend of mine on Skype setting up OBS. We've ran into a couple problems which I've managed to fix without any trouble. We've discovered a new problem he has.
On his Windows 10 computer, my friend is trying to record (not stream) Minecraft. Yesterday he was using a different software to record, and the audio and the video worked just fine. He complained that it was a bit laggy, so I persuaded him to let me guide him through OBS.
Now when he records, the video works just fine (without any lag) but there's no audio at all (neither from his microphone or Skype), but only in some cases. He tries to open the file in Windows Media Player (in which then he opens it in Windows Movie Maker Live), and there's no audio. Another topic around these forums told him (someone else, but we stole the suggestion) to open the file in VLC Media Player, and everything was perfect. There's was video as well as audio.
I've tried everything I knew that I thought would fix this (and every time I was not successful). Every microphone he has doesn't work in WMP (Windows Media Player), every desktop audio connection he has doesn't work in WMP, and I've had him reset his microphone and desktop audio connection as well as restarting his computer. Still, we were not successful.
This has only happened for OBS.
There's my problem in a pretty good amount of detail. I'm willing to give out any other information that is necessary.
Would like if this could be resolved pretty soon (as we're so eager to record), though take the time that you need. We can find other things to do for the meantime.
