Question / Help Audio Output - Media Source vs. Desktop Quality

Okay, I've been trying to figure this out for literally months. It must be something very simple and stupid and I'm probably just not seeing it.

My stream's focus is MUSIC. I want to be able to stream music in high quality just as when you upload a song directly through media source or VLC player - BUT, I want to be able to show a "Now Playing".

I CAN show a "Now Playing" text when playing through my desktop or other output source when using SNIP.

However, the quality is substantially lower, to the point where its shameful if I'm trying to focus on music stream quality.

So, how do I get a nice quality music stream (just as when you upload directly to source) while ALSO showing a "Now Playing" with SNIP or any other program/plugin?

Thank you in advance!

If you go to Settings, Output you'll see an Audio Tab. If you change the bitrate here it may help your quality but don't forget that this is removed from the available video bitrate. 160 is considered a good half way house

Thank you, but all the audio settings are as good as it can be. It is just not good enough for music when using output source. It is awesome quality when used through a media source or vlc source.

It is definitely noticeable when using headphones. But, just to clarify: Do you hear any significant difference from a desktop output source vs. adding it directly as a media source?

I'll have to do some more testing and don't have time right now, I'll get back to you. Please post a log just in case there is some obvious problem with the config.

How's it going? I have done a bit of testing and I can't see the difference at least to my ear. Here's the test I did:

1) Set up a scene with a VLC Audio Source
2) Opened the same audio file (a .FLAC in this case) in VLC.
3) Started recording making sure all audio channels except my mic were muted
4) Spoke a bit, then muted mic
5) Unmuted Desktop and pressed Play on VLC
6) Muted desktop, unmuted mic spoke a bit
7) muted mic and then made the VLC audio source visible in the scene.

All sounds the same to me, I can extract an audio track or upload a video if you want to have a listen let me know.

From the log, it looks to me like you're adding an audio output capture source to a configuration which is already capturing desktop audio. That probably won't give very good results.
