Audio noise/buzzing/crackling when using "UCEC" brand (RCA -> USB) adapter ---> USB -> USB-C adapter ---> Macbook Pro

Anyone else getting this?

I've completely disconnected my VCR at this point so I know that the problem is either with the "UCEC" (RCA -> USB) adapter or the (USB -> USB-C) adapter I'm using to connect it to my Macbook Pro.

Anyone been able to solve this in any way other than trying different adapters?
