Hello Folks, I've been using OBS for almost a year now. So far it's been a lot of fun configuring and using it for various setups that I need for livestreaming a church service. I've never run into a problem that I couldn't work around until now, and the problem is that when monitoring audio, all audio inputs (active and inactive) are constantly on.
For a demo of this problem, I've removed all of my usual scenes, and only have two scenes set up: Scene 1 is FaceTime camera + Built-In Microphone, and Scene 2 is just a Quicktime video. All Global Audio Devices are disabled. The monitoring device is the built-in output (my headphones plugged in to my iMac). I've recorded the screen showing me switching between the two scenes and clapping my hands while both Scene 1 and Scene 2 are alternately in the Program window. At the same time, I recorded the Program output using OBS's recording feature which I'll include in this post. If you watch the OBS recording, the audio is fine - only the active source audio is audible. However in the screen recording, you can hear that the clapping is audible both when the built-in microphone is active as well as inactive (when the video is playing). In addition I set up these same two scenes in the Windows version of OBS, and the audio monitoring behaves properly (inactive audio sources are not audible through the audio monitoring device).
The reason why I'm having a hard time living with this issue is that I recently started using an outboard encoder/streamer, and I need to feed the audio monitor signal into that. Many of my scenes rely on audio switching to set appropriate audio levels, and I'd also like to make sure that any hot mics in our service are not audible while people are watching a video I'm showing. Thank you for any help or insights you might provide.
