While attempting to convert VHS tapes to digital format I am getting a second or so of audio latency. I am using an inexpensive AIFUSI VHS to Digital Converter which is claimed compatible to Windows 10 (64 bit) connected to a Dell 7720 Precision Workstation Laptop with 2 GPUs; an Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 and an NVIDIA Quadro M1200.
I have updated drivers to both GPUs and I set OBS to process through the NVIDIA. I am not sure if this makes both the source and the program is being processed through the same GPU.
I am not certain if I am supposed to have my Mic/AUX set up as (AV to USB 2.0) or just having the Video Capture device set up.
At first I had picture then just black screen, then after fiddling around and getting error suggesting I update GPU driver (I did both) I got both picture and sound (albeit with latency).
Then, this morning I went to try again and now I get just black screen again.
So far I have only attempted to monitor the VHS playing through the capture card on my laptop screen and through headphones connected through the laptop audio jack. I have not attempted to actually convert through the card, so I don't know if the audio latency would present once converted.
Are there any experts with this sort of process who could advise me on how to get this to work correctly and consistently?
