Audio Lagging Over Time

Hello all,

First time poster but have been reading and following the forums for a while - what a great resource!

Background/set-up: I am streaming church services to Youtube. I have 2 cameras (HDMI) + a presentation software (HDMI) + soundboard (3.5 mm) connected through an ATEM Mini. ATEM Mini connected to the PC using USB-C to USB 3.0 cable. Sound out of the ATEM mini is in sync and stays in sync.

Normally, we are doing streams that are about 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes or so. At the beginning of the stream, the sound is perfectly in sync. The longer the stream goes, the further behind the audio gets to where it is tough to watch near the end. I've tried so many things and can't sort it out. I even tried using a different software (VMIX) to see if that would solve the problem but no dice! I've also just done recording (not streaming) to see if it's a streaming issue but it happens on recordings as well.

Log file is here: https://obsproject.com/logs/R3prNnDdowJEoeto

I ran it through the Log Analyzer and no issues.

Here's a link to our latest live stream as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oddQAlw9EfY&ab_channel=CovenantReformedChurchofToronto

Time stamps:
8:35 - everything is synced up.
50:00 - you can see audio is falling behind
1:04:00 - quite far behind now

Hi there, I had the same issue on a live stream I did last night. After doing some research online it seems like many people have had the same problem. Try updating your Atem software to version 8.5, this update should remove the lag issue.

I have done this update and tested it and it seems to work but I only tested it on a 15 minute stream.

Give it a go, hopefully it works for you.

thanks,

I had this problem and also problems with synced but offset audio, cracking/popping. Sometimes I had just one issue, sometimes none, sometimes all the above. The problem was that I was recording directly from "Audio Mixer --> Video Capture Device". Once I went to Settings --> Audio --> Global Audio Devices" and I set Mic/Auxiliary Audio to Microphone (USB 3.0 HD Audio Capture), then only having "Mic/Aux" and "Video Capture Device" on the Audio Mixer panel, it worked. Now I'm not having any problems whatsoever. No need to correct for audio offsets or anything, although I am recording at 48khz and I think the USB capture device is digitizing at 48khz.

SunniMedia - thanks. I thought I recently updated the ATEM Mini software but I will check and do it again.

MarsConcert - that's a good idea - I will try this too!

Just to update: I did both of the above suggestions.

this morning we had a stream that went 67 minutes without any lagging issues. Hopefully this keeps up!
