Audio Issues

I am having some audio setup issues. Last week, I had audio coming in through 4 separate microphones (I had another operator monitoring the system). It was discovered during service and I muted three of them. I have attempted to mute the microphones and import audio to my laptop via a Zoom U-22 audio interface. We are using an aux output on the Behringer X32 soundboard directly to the laptop. However, now I only get static to the stream. What am I doing wrong?

Hi. At first we have to sort something out. I'm about guessing and you can acknowledge or correct if i'm wrong:

WIth "four separate microphones" do you mean four channels within the obs audio mixer, right?
In the log i've seen that your U-22 is bound multiple way into obs. (This was done in the settings->audio)

--> If thats right, the golden rule is that each interface or mono/stereo channel shall just connected once into obs' audio section. So please don't just mute the other ones, instead remove them from the settings at all.

Using an aux is generally a good idea to grab the services' audio from the houses mixer. Can you have a pfl or solo at the behringer (with earphones there) just to check that there is clean output signal leaving the aux without huge static/hum?

--> If so, the next testing point would be the earphones out of the u-22, using the direct-monitoring switch. Proof if you can hear the clean signal from the behringers aux coming into the u-22. Should be hassle-free, too. If not, it's possible the cable in between. What cable do you use? Special care is needed by using trs cables. Ask then.

Then check (and bypass if needed) any filters set into the audio mixers channels. Your log assumes that, even with filters like "gain" and "expander" which are proposed to raisen static and noise. You can check by clicking their "eye" pictogram within the filters dialog to switch fast between enabled/disabled.

And there are further unknown audio devices within your configuraton, for instance: within the scene "pre service" there is an audio device "Rude USB"??

And the last one for today: You set in settings->audio obs to 48k, but your u-22 is initialized everywhere at 44.1k. So change all to the same. If you dont know how to configure the windows settings, switch obs to 44.1k for now.

Audio is my weakest subject area. Fortunately, the person who setup up our Presonus AR12 USB mixer is a still around to help

I take it this isn't for House of Worship? if it is, why 60 fps?

Do not assume audio connections are plug and play. You have to matching outgoing and incoming impedance, gain, etc, and making sure equipment all is properly grounded, etc to get clean audio
I initially assumed you have mic going into the mixer, then a single connection... but 4 Mic inputs in OBS??

Why aren't you taking USB out of Behringer straight into PC? Why are you using the U-22? and are you using its analog or USB output connection? And regardless, you only have a single analog input on the U-22, so regardless of # of mics on Behringer, you still only have a single Audio source on the PC.

There are LOTS of ways to connect a mixer to a PC, and troubleshooting depends on the specifics.
For example, we have all 8 XLR ports connected on Presonus sound board, with Main Out being in-house speakers. We then used the mixers Aux Monitor 1&2 analog output into an adapter to adjust gain (similar to the U-22's analog option), into a TRRS cable into PC, then with correct Operating System settings for that audio input. That provides a single mic input (regardless of channels in use in mixer) for the PC/OBS
To avoid complications, I Disabled all default Audio in OBS. In my scenes, I have the analog audio input captured as a single source, duplicated/referenced in various scenes as required [not all scenes need in-house mic]

We've just installed Presonus' Studio One 5 DAW, and are in the process of configuring it so on the streaming PC I can see each channel individually (via a USB, not analog, connection). However, turns out not so simple as software designed for recording and/or processing and signal going back out to mixer before speakers. Creating a combined virtual consolidated/mixed audio channel output that other Apps on PC can use didn't exist with prior version(4) and even with latest is not intuitive/easy [I'm hoping to avoid a hardware loopback interface kludge setup]. Different DAWs behave differently. I'm using Presonus' Studio One as its free... but unless I get it working without excess complication we may have to switch
