Question / Help Audio going through twice.

I am using a elgato game capture HD to stream my xbox one footage. I also use the built in desktop sound capture which picks up any sound on my PC, which I use to use with skype when playing with friends. The issue is that with the way my setup is,the xbox game audio goes from my monitor, to my line in on my computer tower, and into my headphones, this causes obs to pick up the game audio from the elgato and desktop sound at the same time. Is there any work around to make it so it only picks up sound from the elgato, and I can still use my game sound coming through my computer while at the same time using skype?

On the mixer, mute the track, lower the volume on the track, or click on the wheel next to the Mixer to bring up Advanced Audio Properties. Change the Audio Monitor dropdowns.

With OBS Studio, you have to be willing to tinker and learn.
Put on a set of headphones and try each of the three settings to see what works and doesn't work for you. Pay attention to what each does.

Monitor and Output - hear audio through headphones and let output get recorded on output track
Monitor Off - turn off hearing through headphones and let output get recorded on output rack
Monitor Only (mute output) - hear audio through headphones and no audio gets recorded on output track

Sorry to bring back old posts but I have not received an answer on mine. I am having this issue - if I mute elgato audio I can't hear the game and neither can the stream, if I mute desktop audio the stream hears the game but not me and I can't hear anything. Turning the volume down on elgato doesn't work neither does turning volume down on desktop audio.
Setting audio up to come through monitor only isn't an option for me as it doesn't have speakers

Have you guys had any luck with this?

So here's my issue: streaming from ps4 pro to pc, but I can't use discord at all (pc)

I have the HD 60 pro, the internal pc elgato. Setup is simple hdmi in, hdmi out.

I use my razer kraken 7.1's plugged into my pc for hearing the game.
Under streamlabs obs I use the advanced audio settings and control audio monitoring for the ps4 pro elgato so I can hear game and my stream can hear the game too. So monitor is on and so it output. The only negative is, under default desktop audio it's picking the ps4 audio up a second time. If i mute the elgato, desktop doesn't pick it up, but me/stream can't hear the game. If I mute the desktop audio, no issues with ps4 sound, so no echoing due to second audio pickup, but I can't use discord at all on my pc for game chat. Has anyone figured this out? It's so baffling. I see there's track checkmarks and I checked those, but no luck.

To anyone still having troubles with this in 2019. Please just go to OBS, go to Audio Mixer right click and select Advanced Audio Properties and change everything to Monitor Off except for Desktop Audio change that too Monitor Only (Mute Output).
