Question / Help Audio from third part to headset problem

Hi.

I don't know if this is a question that should be put here, as I don't know if it's really an OBS thing. But here goes...

I play an electric drumset when I stream. The drumset is connected to a soundcard (Steinberg CI1), and the soundcard is connected to the computer, with input to Adobe Audition and then through Virtual Cable into OBS (The same goes for my mic, so I can add filters and EQ's etc).
Now my problem; I don't know how to get the sound from the drums (or the mic) into my headset (Headset is connected to the standard output in the computer). Right now I need to switch headset, and use one directly connected to the drumset, or else I can't hear them.

Anyone here who can think of a solution?

Drums --> Soundcard ---> Adobe Audition --> Virtual Cable --> OBS
Mic --> Soundcard ---> Adobe Audition --> Virtual Cable --> OBS


The drum setup could also look like this.

Drums --> Soundcard ---> OBS

If you need more details, please let me know. I hope someone knows something, or can help me figure it out.

If the source is already in OBS, then you should be able to pass it through to a device to hear by setting it to "Monitor and Output" in Edit > Advanced Audio Properties

OBS lets you pass through any audio source so you can hear it.

You specify the device to use for monitoring in Settings > Audio > Monitoring Device

WARNING: This device should be different from your default system audio, *especially* if you are recording from that device. If you use that device as a source and a monitor, you'll get echo.

Thanks for your answer, but I cannot make it work. I tried to set all audio sources to monitor, but nothing.

If you have all devices set to monitor, and you are getting input on those devices (you can see input register visually in the mixer) and you cannot hear anything, then the device you are listening to is not your audio monitor. Check which device is set as monitor in Settings > Audio > Monitoring Device

Hi,

I am experiencing the same problem.
I have only one audio source. This audio source is set to monitor and I can see the input in the mixer but no sound in my headset (I have set the correct device (my headset output) in Settings > Audio > Monitoring Device
The sound of the recordings are OK.
Just one curious thing, the OBS volume is grey in windows sound settings (see attached file)

That indicates you are using Voicemeeter. If that is the case, Voicemeeter will control which of your outputs gets access to a hardware device. In that case, you need to set the OBS monitoring device to one of Voicemeeter's virtual devices, and then use Voicemeeter to send that output to your headset.
