Question / Help Audio from preview slowly gets more and more out of sync

This might just be me doing OBS wrong but here goes
Win 7 64bit, latest updates
OBS 20.0.1 64bit
Elgato HD 60 Pro for capture, (the internal pci card one)
hooked up to a PS4 but this also happens on the Switch
log is attached, a session in which the audio is desynced by about 500ms

I'm basically using OBS as my audio output when i'm not using it to record, so having the audio synced is important. It's alright when first starting but over minutes it'll get more and more desynced

If this is just a limitation of obs that's fine but i would like to know if there's some kind of keyboard shortcut to "reset" the preview completely so it'll re-sync.

if i use the regular elgato capture software it works totally fine and never desyncs but it's a cpu hog like crazy, constantly 30%, obs runs much smoother and lighter

Are you actually using the analog line input on your elgato? If not, you should remove that as an audio source. The video capture device already has the HDMI/device audio included.

indeed, all i have is a video capture device for a source with the following settings.

18:44:34.727: - source: 'Audio Input Capture' (wasapi_input_capture)
18:44:34.727: - monitoring: monitor and output

This is what I'm talking about. What is this source for? You should remove it.

interesting, i thought i got rid of that but it was still there? got rid of it again and restarted OBS
first few minutes seems promising, no delay at all, but i wonder if that'll hold

spoke too soon, some delay is coming back
although looking at the logs myself, that long string of 23ms audio delay additions is highly suspect, hmmmmm.
so, i'm disabling the buffering near the bottom of the video capture settings to see what that does. From the googling i did a few days ago on this issue it sounded like buffering was supposed to fix it though?
