Audio from microphone not being recorded

I've just installed OBS studio and just trying to test it out but the audio from the mic isn't being recorded. The monitor is showing that there is sound being made but its just not being captured in the actual video

I've looked at the settings, unticked the exclusivity in the system settings, looked at the advanced audio settings and put everything on track 1 but still isn't working for me.

I've included screenshots of the mixer, settings and a log file so hopefully someone might be able to suggest what I could do next

Have you tried ticking the mono box ? That makes it record in stereo for some daft reason !!

Thanks! It seems to be working now.

I downloaded VLC player and that seems to play it fine but on the standard microsoft video player there is still a problem. Possible codec issue maybe?

I would stick with VLC . Windows media player is shi* and does have lots of codec issues.

OK thanks. Just wondered if it wasn't playing on that than it might not play on other video formats - ie Youtube?
