Audio fading in and out

Aright so Ive been at this for a while now. I had a perfectly good capture card it captures video jus fine only thing is the audio cuts in and out. My thought process was ok i'll just need to get a new capture card. I go purchase an elgato hd60x thinking it would be better but nope. Same thing. Great picture, in and out, audio.
There's nothing wrong with either the capture card or the computer because when i go to test the audio in my computer's sound settings it shows the audio is being captured just fine. However when in obs it'll catch the audio sometimes.

I've search all over the forums I've googled and I've tried literally everything but i have no answers nor solutions can anyone help plz. This is getting mad annoying.

I've tried putting it under its own audio device. I've tried turning the monitoring on. I've tried turning everything to default. I've literally tried it all to no avail. Plz help.

So when i record or stream from obs the gameplay audio from my console will only play sometimes as im recording. the audio levels will show sound then all of a sudden no sound. Everything else works fine. the mic audio is good the video quality is great the only thing that is inonsistent is the audio from game play. i play nintendo switch and playstation 5.
