Audio Doubles in Amplitude

Newbie here with OBS. Do not know if asking the right questions. Just recently, when streaming, and we add a slide, and the screen shows the speaker and the slide, the audio amplitude doubles on the stream. Take down the slide and the audio is back to normal on the stream. I hope this is clear, or am I missing more information to get an answer. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Do both sources have a copy of the same audio?

Look at the audio mixer when both are up. If the slide (the more temporary one) has its own audio, try muting that one (the speaker button: white for ON, red for MUTE).

The default view has the meters horizontal, but coming from the live audio world, I like them vertical instead. There's a right-click menu to change that.

Thank you for the reply. I will check tomorrow if the slide has a copy of the audio. I am pretty sure it does not, since it is just a jpg file.

It's also possible that you're using two different scenes for this, and some leftover experiments gave you both a global audio source and a local one to that scene but not the other. That'll also give you two copies of the same audio, and the immediate fix is still the same, but the better fix in that case is to remove the local one from the scene and only use the global.

Thank you all for your help. As it turns out, we did have two audio sources on that scene, where we had a speaker and a slide. For some reason, when the slide was added, the 2nd audio stream would activate. When the speaker was by himself, without the slide added, the second audio stream did not activate. Deleting one of the audio streams with the scene solved the issue.
