Question / Help Audio Cutting Out / Local Recording

Th3FancySauce

New Member
Hi there!

I've been trying to record several games such as Tera and Smite locally, and I've noticed a huge annoyance in the recording. When working, the audio and video quality is perfect. But every so often, despite efforts as read to increase scene buffering time, the audio cuts out of both my mic and the game for a few seconds before returning. It happens quite frequently, enough to ruin efforts to make a video. Any help would be appreciated.

Log should be attached.

Using desktop audio input: Headset Earphone (Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma)

You've got a Kraken, so have you already disabled it? Did you not install drivers? Did you check using msconfig?

The only other thing I can suggest is to turn CFR (constant frame rate) to On / Yes. There's no good reason to have it off, it might be getting out of sync and causing this. Even if not, you should always have CFR on if you want to use the files you save for anything.

Using msconfig I found nothing related to the Kraken mic. I have not installed any of the razer software for the Kraken mic, and I'm assuming that for the mic to work on Windows it automatically downloaded the drivers much like a mouse or keyboard..

I'm enabling CFR to see if that is the issue, but I believe I've had it enabled before with the same audio issue.

EDIT: Enabling CFR did not fix the issue.

Can you post a new log file from your most recent attempt?

How about from the 64-bit version?

In order to eliminate other usual points of failure, try going back to the Very Fast preset (for testing purposes, for now).

Since you're not streaming, use this guide to set up your local recording (instead of using a target bitrate): https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/how-to-make-high-quality-local-recordings.12600

Also, since you're recording to disk, why are you downscaling? I doubt it has much to do with the problem, but you should keep it full resolution unless you're really limited by disk space or another special reason.

Anyways, if you can make all these changes and the problem still occurs, then there's a real mystery. Maybe disable or remove the audio entirely in case the Kraken is the problem as previously suspected.

Same issue, new settings.

Ok I had this same problem and Boildown is right. Although if you have a specific mic you like to use do not disable it. instead set the default audio device to a "dummy mic". I think the problem is the game you are playing (for me its elite dangerous) is always listening and you cannot set which mic you want so it just assumes to use the default device.

I'm having the same issue with a turtle beach PX3. I know this thread was over a year ago, but was a solution ever found.

Edit: Never mind, I found the issue. I was plugging a USB 2.0 cable into a 3.0 port. sorry for wasting people's time.
