Audio Crackling when using Audio Interface for DJ sets

Hi all,

Im using an audio interface with my dj controller to live stream and record dj sets, but every recording I make there is noticable crackling throughout the whole recording. at first there were visible errors using the obs log analyzer which I fixed, I was able to record a couple videos before encountering the issue yet again. I am sure that any enabled device is 48000 hz and I also disabled desktop audio. I cant seem to figure out exactly what the issue is here. The audio interface is listed as a USB AUDIO DEVICE in my logs. Please help.

CPU Name: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz

It is not for sure that this will be enough. Depends on what you are doing.

Lighten your load on the computer and if it comes out without the crackling, that will show you what the problem was.

I had a similar thing with my 2015 computer with an i7. When I would attempt to run too much on it it would crackle and make terrible sounds.

The best solution I found was get a better computer, (in my instance a Ryzen with 8/16 cores) and then use that older one just to record the videos across a gigabit network (10/100/1000).

It sounds like that is the issue to me.
I am also a musician and I had this crackling OBS sound. Was because too much too many programs too hi def of a recording. Too much strain on the computer to resolve a 1920x1080 screen base resolution to a 1280x 720, or else to attempt to stream the full 1920.

If you absolutely can't get a 2nd computer and figure out a network (which is the best way as I said and totally worth the effort) then you could try opening your intel desktop graphics panel. It may have a setting for 120 hz refresh rate in that case you want to cut that in half it is probably an option. Furthermore you could possibly scale your graphics in that Intel panel to 1280x720 for the screen res. Doesn't really make a noticable difference as far as I ever noticed, and it will make the crackling audio problem disappear, and bring your base resolution in OBS to 1280x720. You may have to change a setting on OBS for base resolution. I don't know if OBS sets that automatically.

the Intel i7 processor is not really enough to do some things. I mean I still use mine all the time to grab a stream from another computer and stream it to the internet, and it can work well for that, but I am not also trying to run audio software and an interface. Those are pretty high CPU things to do sometimes.

My cpu usage is a steady 20-30% and I’m not running any other software really. My audio is coming direct through a physical interface so the cpu usage is very low. Ill def consider testing on a pc with faster cpu
