Question / Help Audio capture from external audio interface

Hi everyone,

I just installed OBS Studio for Windows 10 and I am trying to get the settings right. I am using an audio interface (Focusrite Clarett USB) but even though that is the device I have selected in the audio settings, the meters are not moving in the audio mixer when I play something in my DAW (Cockos Reaper). Capturing desktop audio seems ok though (meters moving), but what I need is to capture what is happening in my DAW. Am I doing something wrong or is it a compatibility issue?

I've attached my latest log file.

I use a DAW also. Sonar X3. And a Focusrite sapphire Pro40. Looks like OBS doesn't like these interfaces. I never got to broadcast really clean at first, unless I use a second sound card just for OBS. In my case, I use a Layla 24/96 interface on the same computer. I sync the two interfaces with rca Spdif, focusrite as master. And I make a mix of what I want to broadcast and send to a pair of outs just to Layla inputs 1 and 2 ( stereo ). So, OBS runs independently from my DAW. Any small interface could do that, even a Behringer UCA202 which may be the cheapest, but good interface on the planet. Having a dedicated interface for OBS makes a ton of difference. I'm setting my studio for broadcasting live performances with several cameras. As my project is way bigger than yours, I use 4 cameras, 2 webcams and I want to record sources separate, I splitted the work among two machines later, and now, the first one with focusrite is running only the DAW, and the second one is where I record videos, edit them and broadcast live, using on this machine, several capture cards. Good luck.

Wow that's good to know, thanks for the input. I'm not ready to buy another interface just for this as I'll only be doing a few short videos every now and then, so I wish there was a workaround...

After trying for almost one year, I decided to dedicate another sound card ( interface ) just for OBS. But you can try other solutions. OBS depends on inputs, you can dedicate a stereo input to it by sending the output mixed signal back to that input to capture on OBS. There's always the option of a virtual audio cable, but that was not very fine to me. A cheap 50 dollars interface ( or less ) would do a great job.

Another tip: If you can't see all inputs of your interface on OBS, you need to install the plug-in ASIO for OBS, when doing that, you can choose the inputs you want.
