Audio and video asynchronous while recording (varies)

When recording, audio and video are sometimes out of sync. But then again sometimes it fits. It varies from recording to recording. So I can't set a permanent sync balance. Can someone help me please?

When saving, this message appears: Encoding overloaded. Does that have anything to do with it?

Is there any solution without sacrificing video quality? I work on a Mac.

While you await a MacOS knowledgeable person to respond, understand that real-time video encoding is VERY computationally demanding. While Audio takes lot less to process.

Encoding overload would indicate your Mac isn't up the workload you are asking it to do (which could be simply not powerful enough computer, and/or a settings adjustment to lower the workload will suffice?)

I recommend monitoring hardware resource (CPU, GPU, RAM, Disk I/O, etc) utilization [System Monitor] to see if your system is being maxed out with your settings. Assuming your Mac is overloaded (either because older, or using a laptop which may thermally throttle, or a new M1 version for which there not yet a native version of OBS for), then optimizing your Operating System may be required (ie turning off stuff that doesn't need to be on, or eye candy that may hinder performance, etc)

1. do NOT ignore the big red warning about NOT recording to MP4. (remux if you must)
2. Ah, 6 generation old ultra-low power CPU. yea, that isn't helping
15:56:36.095: Video stopped, number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 733/2139 (34.3%)
so thermal throttling absolutely could be an issue

Your laptop is capable of recording/streaming, but with settings appropriate for an older, under-powered CPU. So to get this laptop to work, expect to take some time to learn about OS (Operating System) and OBS optimizations.
This could be simple, as the recording settings look odd to me, but then again, I haven't reviewed Mac OBS logs much, so... not sure if normal, or ??

Would a new computer be simpler? quite possibly. But as to whether required or not, I'm not sure. That will take a Mac person to respond. It could be a case of lowering recording settings, and you'll be all set. I just don't know. On the Windows side, I tried a gaming laptop, same circa 2015, with a more powerful CPU and GPU, and it didn't work for me (just starting out, I'm sure I could get it to work, just.. today). So, I suspect you'll need to be conscientious of the technical implications of your sources, your settings, what is running in the background, memory and CPU optimizations, etc Or go for newer, more powerful overkill system, and think less about those things (maybe, a M1 native OBS version hasn't been released yet).

Thank you so much @Lawrence_SoCal. Sounds like I cannot use OBS with this computer if I don't want to lower the quality of the video. So I have to think about another solution...

Well, I didn't say you had to lower quality. Maybe, but a MacOS person would be a better guide than I on that issue.
This could be a simple matter of more appropriate OBS settings (and making sure you are being careful about what else is running on the Mac at the same time as OBS)

However, it most likely does mean having to dive into technical details (OS and OBS) to optimize things. Or, get something newer and much more powerful. sorta that whole time vs money thing. There are folks in these forums (Windows OS side) using similar generation hardware that do just fine with OBS. But the folks I'm aware of doing so are _really_ knowledgeable about OBS.
