Question / Help Audient ID14 microphone interface won't work?

Hello OBS,
My microphone audio interface is an Audient ID14, which will cause OBS to crash when I attempt to use it with the ID14 saved as my microphone device.

This is the product page:
https://audient.com/products/id14
(According to my understanding, the ID14 is an ASIO device)

I read a lengthy post from 2013 where a discussion about ASIO took place where Muf said that it was, at that time, not on the radar, but could be possible in the future (it's 2016 now so maybe?).

Question 1) Has this position in development changed? ASIO support on the horizon?
Question 2) If OBS does not/will not use ASIO, then what does it use? I'm a total noob with this and would like to know, so I can ask Audient about driver support with what OBS does use. ("WASAPI"? "WDM"?)

Thank you for your time!

+1: I'd *really* like to see ASIO driver support in OBS. This is something lacking from all screencast software I've tried to date, including Camtasia and Adobe Captivate. Adding it would make OBS the only tool to support this professional standard. It would be nice to be able to make screencasts of, say Cubase or Nuendo (which require ASIO interfaces to be used) and capture multiple uncompressed (ideally broadcast WAV) audio input and output streams simultaneously to different tracks.
